A Greenhouse in the Arctic.
Laval University has been involved in promoting arctic agriculture through various growing systems including the dome greenhouse, cold frames, hydroponics, aeroponics and growth chambers. This summer, the Laval University team represented by Élizabeth Laroche and Daphnée Sansregret inaugurated the dome greenhouse with a first growing season and invited the community to see their ongoing experiments and enjoy tasty plants. The opening ceremony was concluded by the lighting of a qulliq by one of the elders present. In this virtual tour, you can see a variety of vegetables and flowers, an intercropping experiment and tundra plants. The intercropping trial is one of many agronomic trials being conducted this summer. It uses the nitrogen fixation properties of legumes, in this case bush beans, to study the potential impact on the growth of mountain and common sorrels by planting the species in close proximity.

The virtual tour is a collaboration between the University of Laval and G.R.I.M.P.
