The Intensive Monitoring Area (IMA)
The IMA has been designated by Polar Knowledge Canada (PKC) to focus on multi-disciplinary research. The area is 2×4 km and is equipped with two Eddy Covariance towers from PKC. In the surrounding area is another weather station and other, smaller sensors like river gauges.
GRIMP has conducted fieldwork in the IMA and its surroundings since 2015 and a data set is available containing snow pits, passive radiometer measurements, RPAS flights and much more.
MOACC will contribute to the effort with two permafrost boreholes, a designated site for snow measurements and multiple mobile sensors to cover the whole IMA.
